The Asia-Pacific Leadership Network for Nuclear Non-Proliferation and Disarmament (APLN) has over one hundred members from eighteen countries across Asia and the Pacific, consisting of former political, diplomatic and military leaders, senior government officials, and scholars and opinion leaders. APLN aims to inform and energize public opinion, especially high-level policymakers, to take seriously the very real threats posed by nuclear weapons, and to do everything possible to achieve a world in which they are contained, diminished and eventually eliminated.

Marianne HANSON

Marianne Hanson is the Associate Professor of International Relations at the University of Queensland, Australia. She teaches and researches in the field of international security focusing on arms control, disarmament, international organizations, and international law.

Marianne Hanson is Associate Professor of International Relations at the University of Queensland, Australia, where she teaches and researches in the field of international security, focusing on arms control, disarmament, international organisations and international law. Prior to joining the University of Queensland, she was Stipendiary Lecturer in Politics at Magdalen College, Oxford University. Dr Hanson gained her MPhil and Doctoral degrees at Oxford University. She is an Australian member of the Asia-Pacific Leadership Network.

Her recent publications include: the book Challenging nuclearism: a humanitarian framework to reshape the global nuclear order, published in May 2022 by Manchester University Press; and several articles and chapters on arms control, including 'Power to the have-nots?
