Outgoing Chair Gareth Evans thanks Prof. Ramesh Takhur for his outstanding contributions to APLN

On the occasion of Prof. Ramesh Takhur‘s retirement from the APLN Board, outgoing chair Gareth Evans expresses his gratitude for Ramesh Takhur’s contributions to APLN:

Ramesh has had a long and distinguished academic career in universities and research institutes around the world, especially Australia, New Zealand, and Canada, and for nine years he was the Vice-Rector of the UN University in Japan, with the position of Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations.

He is a globally acknowledged expert in global governance, nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation, and international security issues generally and has authored or edited over 50 books, more than 400 book chapters, and written possibly thousands of articles in journals and newspapers.

He has been a tower of strength and support to me in multiple roles, not least in holding APLN together during some difficult times. On behalf of APLN, I warmly thank him for his service to the organisation.

– Gareth Evans, Former Chair of APLN
