Chief of the Korean Peninsula Security Research Division and a research fellow at the Center for Security and Strategy at the Korea Institute for Defense Analyses (KIDA)

Dr. Kyung-joo Jeon is the Chief of the Korean Peninsula Security Research Division and a research fellow at the Center for Security and Strategy at the Korea Institute for Defense Analyses (KIDA), Republic of Korea (ROK). At KIDA, she has conducted research on North Korean military and political issues, nuclear issues, U.S. extended deterrence, and ROK defense planning, much of which has been requested by the ROK Ministry of National Defense. Dr. Jeon was also an adjunct professor at Korea University Fall 2021 to Fall 2022 and she has returned since Spring 2025. She served as a visiting fellow at the National Defense University (NDU) and concurrently as a visiting expert at the United States Institute of Peace (USIP) from July 2023 to July 2024. She was a member of the advisory board to the Director of National Security in the Office of the President of the Republic of Korea.
