The Asia-Pacific Leadership Network for Nuclear Non-Proliferation and Disarmament (APLN) has over one hundred members from eighteen countries across Asia and the Pacific, consisting of former political, diplomatic and military leaders, senior government officials, and scholars and opinion leaders. APLN aims to inform and energize public opinion, especially high-level policymakers, to take seriously the very real threats posed by nuclear weapons, and to do everything possible to achieve a world in which they are contained, diminished and eventually eliminated.

Senior Fellow of the Foreign Policy Community of Indonesia

R.M. Michael Tene is a Senior Fellow of the Foreign Policy Community of Indonesia. He was a senior Indonesian diplomat and served at Indonesian Embassies in London (1997-2001) and Washington DC (2005-2009). He was the Chief of Staff to the Foreign Minister and the Spokeperson of the Indonesian MFA (2010-2014). In 2015-2018, he was assigned  as an Ambassador/Deputy Permanent Representative at the Permanent Mission of Indonesia for the UN and other international organizations in Geneva (2015-2018).

He worked for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) as the Deputy Secretary General of ASEAN for Community and Corporate Affairs (2019-2021) and as the Deputy Secretary General of ASEAN for ASEAN Political Security Community (2021-2024).

Mr. Tene has in-depth knowledge, understanding and experiences on ASEAN related issues. He has been dealing with ASEAN since 1994 and was involved in developing and negotiating various key initiatives of ASEAN. He was also involved at various stages of ASEAN’s conflicts management efforts in dealing with issues in Myanmar, Thailand-Cambodia, and South China Sea.
